Domain names for web sites are, in principle, managed by official organizations, which vary according to the extension of the domain name to be registered (for example: .com or .ch). These organizations generally work with external private companies to sell domain names (known as “registrars”).

In Switzerland, the registration of .ch and .li domain names is managed by the Switch Foundation. The Foundation works with the various registrars in Switzerland, who are responsible for selling domain names. A complete list of Switch's partner registrars can be found on the Foundation's website (link).

Before registering a domain name, please check that it is available. In principle, the various registrars offer simplified searches of this kind. The Switch Foundation website (link) also enables searches for the .ch extension.
